Our Work

Giving Vulnerable Children A Safe Place To Heal And Thrive

Our hospital is Kenya's first and only long-term pediatric care facility of its kind. We provide free care for children suffering from terminal illnesses or debilitating conditions who have been abandoned or rescued from environments that could not meet their needs.

The Crisis No One Talks About

Thousands of children with chronic illnesses live in overcrowded institutions where overwhelmed staff can't provide individual attention. These children spend their final days feeling like burdens instead of treasures.

Traditional charities focus on cure rates and success stories. But what about children everyone else has given up on? What about ensuring these precious souls know they matter?

  • Individual attention impossible in traditional settings

  • Child-focused environment with activity rooms and play areas

  • Innovative virtual reality therapy for bedridden children

  • 100% locally staffed facilities

  • Comprehensive medical and emotional care

Our patients receive 24/7 medical treatment, daily therapies, and the love and comfort every child deserves. This model allows children feel safe and valued, focusing not only on healing physical illnesses but also on mending broken hearts.

A Heart-Centered Approach to Hospital Care

Where Our Journey Began

Dr. Iza Correll

Founder

I founded OVI Children’s Hospital to care for children who were suffering and neglected in orphanages and institutional settings never equipped to manage severe, long-term medical conditions.

From rural Kenya, we provide long-term, specialized medical care for orphaned and abandoned children living with chronic, terminal, and debilitating illnesses. Many of the children we serve require ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, pain management, and care that cannot be delivered safely in traditional orphanages or short-term facilities.

I intentionally built OVI as a hospital, not a shelter. Our model prioritizes continuity of care, medical rigor, and environments designed to preserve dignity and reduce fear. Children remain with us for as long as their condition requires, supported by multidisciplinary clinical teams and consistent caregivers who know them deeply.

Care at OVI integrates medicine with emotional safety and intentional presence. Healing here is heart-centered. Children are not rotated through systems; they are held, nurtured, and deeply loved.

I founded OVI at 24 years old, guided by a simple and unwavering vision: to create a world where no child feels alone. That vision continues to drive our expansion into a multi-facility hospital system so children with complex medical needs are never again left to suffer in environments unequipped to care for them.

The Lives You Help Heal

Learning to eat, move, and communicate safely

Born into a family facing serious medical challenges, I did not have consistent care in early life. My mother is still in school, and my grandmother, my primary caregiver, lives with advanced heart and kidney disease. Because of OVI, I now receive daily support to learn, grow, and feed safely.

Continuing a long journey of healing

I came to OVI as a toddler after years of severe neglect and critical illness. I have made meaningful progress, but I still rely on ongoing therapies and daily assistance due to complex genetic conditions. Your support gives me the stability and care I need to keep moving forward.

  • A young child in a blue smock smiling while sitting on a blue plastic slide in a playroom with a black and white patterned rug, a round white table, and a pillow in the background.

Building the foundations for walking and speech

My mother is a deaf orphan who needs support to meet my daily care and communication needs. Without assistance, it would not be possible for her to safely provide everything I require to grow and develop.
At OVI, we receive the guidance, care, and support needed to help me communicate, stay safe, and thrive together.

From fragile beginnings to steady growth

I was born prematurely and faced serious complications at birth that affected my early development. My first days required intensive medical care and careful monitoring. OVI provides the specialized treatment and nurturing environment that allow me to heal and thrive.

  • A young boy with a shaved head and light brown skin sitting on a white bench, wearing a light blue shirt, with a background of dark green leafy plants.

Learning to trust and thrive despite past pain and trauma

I was abandoned shortly after birth following a serious attempt to harm my life. I required urgent medical care and long-term support to survive.
At OVI, I am now receiving the treatment, protection, and therapy needed to recover and grow.

Relieving pain and supporting healthy development

I was born to a father living with a severe physical disability that limits his ability to provide daily care and support. As a result, I could not access the consistent medical attention I needed early on. At OVI, I receive the medical care, comfort, and stability I need to grow safely.

Plus. Every donor gets monthly email updates and cards with patient photos and stories from Kenya.

And if you're someone with the capacity to create generational change if you're thinking about legacy, about naming rights, about opening an entire second hospital we'd love to talk with you privately (we want to open up many more hospitals and have the exact plans to do it.)

The last thing we'll tell you

You may never meet these children.

You may never know their names or hear their voices.

But tonight, because of you, a little girl who came to us broken and forgotten will fall asleep in soft pajamas, with a full belly, knowing that somewhere in the world, someone cares about her.

That someone is you.

Will you help us reach them?
